Reading notes with your eyes alone doesn’t stick — but listening and repeating them out loud does. StudyAloud solves this by turning your handwritten study notes into spoken audio, so you can review vocabulary, exam summaries, and key concepts anytime, anywhere.
After launching on iOS last year, I’m now bringing StudyAloud to Android users. The app works the same way: write your notes, hit play, and learn by ear.

I built this because I kept forgetting things I’d written down. Reading and highlighting felt productive in the moment, but the information rarely stuck. Then I realized something obvious: we retain far more when we engage multiple senses. Adding audio and repetition changed everything for my own study routine, so I figured other people might benefit too.
What StudyAloud does
- Reads notes aloud with natural voices — Play, pause, and navigate through your notes with text-to-speech. Both Korean and English voices are supported, and you can adjust speed and pitch to suit your preference.
- Highlights text as it reads — The app auto-scrolls to the word being spoken, so you can follow along without losing your place.
- Drill specific phrases — Long-press any word or phrase to loop just that section, perfect for drilling tricky vocabulary or exam material.
- Organize notes into folders — Sort by subject, topic, or date to keep your study material structured.
- Rich formatting — Bold, highlight, headings, and text colors help you structure key points cleanly before you record.
- Flexible playback modes — Repeat a single note or cycle through your entire folder. Great for bedtime review, workouts, or your commute.
- Dark mode and bilingual UI — Choose between light and dark themes, and pick your app language (Korean or English).
- Privacy-first — No sign-up required, and your notes stay on your device. They’re never sent anywhere.

StudyAloud is built for anyone memorizing material by ear. English learners practicing vocabulary and pronunciation. Students prepping for certification, college entrance, or licensing exams. People doing dictation drills. Anyone whose eyes are tired but who still needs to review. The hands-free format means you can study while doing something else — no friction, no excuses.

If you’ve been waiting for StudyAloud on Android, it’s ready now. Download it free on Google Play and start building the habit of learning by listening.
