If you run on a treadmill, you know the friction: after finishing your workout, you either scribble down numbers by hand or mentally note them later. Outdoor runners have GPS apps. Treadmill runners? Not really. I built TreadLog to fix that.

I started running on a gym treadmill during the pandemic and quickly got frustrated with how clunky it was to log workouts. Every other running app assumed you were outside with GPS. Indoor treadmill running is a different beast—you need something lightweight and focused. I wanted an app that would simply recognize the numbers on my treadmill console and save them instantly, with no servers, no logins, no friction.
What TreadLog Does
- OCR auto-fill from console photos: Snap a picture of your treadmill display and TreadLog reads the distance, time, calories, incline, and speed automatically. If something’s misread, tap to correct it in seconds.
- Quick manual entry: No phone handy? Type in distance and time—that’s all you need. You can also log outdoor runs this way if you want.
- Calendar heatmap: See your running patterns at a glance. The more you ran on a given day, the darker the color. Monthly summaries show your total distance, time, and run count.
- Streaks and weekly goals: Track consecutive running days and set weekly targets (N runs, N kilometers). Watch your momentum build.
- Stats and pace trends: View your all-time cumulative distance, time, and run count. A trend chart shows how your pace is improving over time.
- Light and dark themes: Follow your system settings or choose manually, so early morning and late night sessions are easy on the eyes.
- Your data, your phone: No sign-up, no login, no server. Everything stays on your device. Need to switch phones? Export to .zip and import on the new one.

The OCR feature is the centerpiece. Most treadmills have identical console layouts—a display showing distance, time, calories burned, speed, and incline. Instead of forcing you to remember or manually type these numbers, TreadLog just reads them from a photo. It’s faster than reaching for a notebook and more reliable than your memory after a sweaty session.

Everything is stored locally on your phone. There’s no account to create, no login to remember, and no server that might disappear tomorrow. Your run data belongs to you. If you ever need to back up or switch devices, just export and import your logs as a .zip file.

Who This Is For
This app is built for anyone who regularly runs on a treadmill—whether at a gym, at home, or at a hotel. If you’re training for a race indoors, building a habit, recovering from an injury on controlled equipment, or just prefer the consistency and safety of a treadmill over outdoor running, TreadLog is designed with you in mind. You don’t need to be an athlete; you just need to want a simple, clean way to track your indoor running progress.
TreadLog version 1.0 is now live on Google Play. If you run on a treadmill and want a frictionless way to log your workouts, download it today and start recording your runs. Every step counts.
