If you’re studying Korean law, preparing for exams, or need to reference criminal procedure statutes on the fly, finding the exact article quickly matters. I built a simple, fast statute viewer that does one thing well: help you find and understand Korean criminal procedure law without friction.
The app is called 형사소송법 조문 조회 (Criminal Procedure Code Viewer), and it’s designed for law students, exam candidates, legal professionals, and anyone who needs reliable access to Korea’s Criminal Procedure Act.
Why I Built This
I noticed that legal professionals and students in Korea were bouncing between browser searches, PDF files, and scattered references when they needed to verify a specific statute. The existing workflows were slow and fragmented. I wanted to create something that felt native to iOS, worked offline, and let you jump between related articles without losing your place.
The core idea is simple: all the statutes, always at your fingertips, with zero setup or account creation required.
What It Does
- Powerful search. Search by article number (e.g., “312” or “제201조의2”), by keyword in titles or full text (“custody,” “search and seizure,” “bail”), or by section name (“General Provisions,” “First Instance,” “Evidence”). Matches light up so you see exactly where your search term appears.
- Continuous scroll view. Read through the entire Criminal Procedure Act as a flowing document, with section headers always visible so you know where you are. Jump to any major section instantly.
- Reference links. Tap any article number cited in the text (like “Article 215” or “Article 201-2”) to jump directly to that statute. Follow cross-references without breaking your reading flow.
- Bookmarks and favorites. Save articles you reference often. View full text inline from your saved list, share via messaging or notes, or send articles to text-to-speech.
- Text-to-speech. Listen to statutes read aloud with clear audio. Great when your eyes are tired or you’re commuting. Play all your bookmarked articles back-to-back.
- Reader-friendly design. Dark mode for night reading, adjustable text size (small to very large), and a clean interface that gets out of your way.
All statute data comes from Korea’s official National Law Information Center (법제처 국가법령정보센터), and you can check the current version and official date in the app settings.
Who This Is For
Law students and those preparing for the Bar Exam (변호사시험) or Legal Education Eligibility Test (LEET) will find it invaluable for quick reference during study. Civil service candidates taking police, prosecutor, court, or corrections exams can verify statutes on the spot. Legal professionals—prosecutors, defense lawyers, judges—can confirm articles faster than scrolling through PDFs. Anyone filing a complaint, gathering evidence, or navigating criminal procedure on their own behalf can access accurate, structured guidance. The app requires no login, no account, and keeps your bookmarks and settings entirely on your device.
Download on the App Store
The app is live now on the iOS App Store. It’s free, offline, and ready to use immediately after download. Whether you’re in a law library, a courtroom waiting room, or studying late, you’ll have Korea’s Criminal Procedure Act in your pocket.
