How much did your cousin give at your wedding? Who sent condolence money to your funeral, and how much? If you find yourself asking these questions repeatedly, you’re not alone—and GiftLedger was built to solve exactly that problem.
I built this app because I kept losing track of gift money across different occasions. Weddings, funerals, milestone birthdays, housewarmings—each event brings its own envelope of cash, and it’s surprisingly easy to forget who gave what and when. I wanted a simple, private way to keep all of that in one place, without uploading my financial records to someone’s server. GiftLedger was already available on iOS, and I’m excited to bring it to Android users today.
What It Does
- Two-way balance tracking. See exactly how much money you’ve received from and given to each person. The app automatically calculates who you might owe a return gift to, and who owes you.
- Reciprocity badges. Set your own threshold, and the app flags people you’ve received from but never reciprocated—so you don’t accidentally miss someone.
- Built-in occasions and relationships. Quick presets for weddings, funerals, first birthdays, 60th birthdays, and business openings. Tag contacts by relationship: family, relative, coworker, friend, or acquaintance.
- Monthly and yearly statistics. Visual breakdowns of your gift money totals by relation and event type, so you can see spending patterns at a glance.
- Search and backup. Instantly find records by name or location. Export and import your data as CSV to back up your ledger or move to a new device.
- Private by design. Everything stays on your phone. No sign-up, no servers, no tracking. Your gift records are yours alone.
Each gift entry stores the amount, occasion, person, date, location, and optional notes. The app keeps a last-transaction timestamp on every contact card, so you can quickly see when you last exchanged money with someone.
