BreadMap solves this by letting bread enthusiasts review and rate individual breads at each bakery—so you know exactly what to expect before you walk in.
I built this app because I kept finding myself in the same frustrating loop: wandering into random bakeries, getting disappointed, and wishing I had a way to track which places actually nailed their specialty. Korea has thousands of small neighborhood bakeries, each with their own character and strengths, but there was no good way to discover them or share knowledge about which breads were worth seeking out. I wanted to create a map drawn by the community—travelers, expats, and local bread lovers—all contributing their finds and honest reviews.
What It Does
- Live bakery map with filters. Browse nearby bakeries on an interactive Naver map. Filter by bread type (salt bread, croissant, red-bean bun, loaf, donut) and use the locate button to jump to your surroundings instantly.
- Per-bread reviews and ratings. Instead of rating a whole shop, you rate individual breads. Each bread accumulates its own price, star rating, and short reviews from other customers—exactly what you need when deciding what to buy.
- Verified purchase badges. Reviews backed by a receipt get a verified badge. Helpful and unhelpful votes let genuine reviews float to the top, while noise sinks. Reports keep spam out.
- Contributor grades and follows. Register bakeries, write reviews, and earn a contributor grade. Follow trusted reviewers and turn their bakery finds into your next bread tour.
- Add bakeries yourself. Found a gem that isn’t on the map yet? Register it in about a minute and put it on the nationwide map for everyone.
- Wishlists and top-rated lists. Save bakeries you want to visit and browse the highest-rated bakeries and breads to plan your next stop.
The core trust model is simple: if you bought something there, prove it with a receipt and your review gets a verified badge. Everyone else votes on what’s actually helpful. This keeps the reviews honest and frees you from promotional noise.
