Finally, a Break-Even Calculator for Korean Stock Investors

If you’re holding a stock that’s deep in the red, you know the drill: pull up a calculator, punch in your average price, your quantity, the current price, and figure out how far you are from breaking even. Then do it again tomorrow. I built an app that just shows you the number.

I got tired of doing that math myself every time a stock I held dipped. I wanted something that would just sit there, update with the previous day’s closing price, and tell me at a glance how much further I had to go. So I built the Averaging Down Break-Even Calculator, originally named 물타기 본전 계산기 in Korean, for exactly that.

Features

  • Automatic closing price filling — save a stock and it pulls in the previous trading day’s close automatically, falling back to the last known close (or manual entry) if data isn’t available that day
  • Averaging down simulation — adjust an additional purchase amount or quantity and watch your new average price and break-even percentage update instantly, or enter a target average price and let it calculate the required quantity and amount in reverse, with a before-and-after comparison bar
  • Savings tracking — log small amounts you save, like skipping a coffee or taking the subway instead of a taxi, and watch a recovery bar fill in using both your averaging-down progress and your saved money
  • Stock details — overlay your average price line on the daily chart, see stats on how long similar past drops took to recover, and check where your average price ranks among other holders of the same stock
  • Target price alerts — set a target price and get notified once it hits the previous day’s closing price
  • No sign-up, on-device processing, backup-file transfer between devices, and light/dark themes

One thing worth knowing: prices come from the previous business day’s close via Korea’s Public Data Portal (Financial Services Commission), not live market data, and the roughly 0.2% transaction tax on selling isn’t factored in. This is a tracking tool, not investment advice.

This is built for Korean stock investors specifically, since it relies on Korean market closing data. If you hold Korean stocks and have ever stared at a position wondering how far underwater you are, or you’re averaging down and want to see the math update live as you buy more, this is for you. It should also be handy if you’re part of the Korean diaspora keeping an eye on investments back home.

The app is free to try, with banner ads at the bottom, and all your data stays on your device. If you’ve got a Korean stock you’re stuck holding, give it a try on Google Play and see exactly how close you are to even.
