Guitar Tuner for Beginners Now on iOS

If you’ve ever picked up a guitar and tried to tune it using a standard tuner app, you know the problem: the needle bounces all over the place, and you’re left wondering whether you’re actually in tune or just close enough.

This experience frustrated me so much that I decided to build something different. After launching on Android, I’m excited to bring this to iOS users today.

Why I Built This

Most guitar tuner apps show a needle that’s constantly moving, which makes them nearly impossible for beginners to use with confidence. You pluck a string, watch the needle jump around, and can never quite tell if you’ve got it right. I wanted to create something that gives a definitive answer instead of a wavering guess.

The core idea is simple: pluck once, wait a moment while the app listens, and get a clear judgment. No second-guessing. No confusion about which direction to turn the tuning peg.

What It Does

  • Averaged measurements instead of live needles — When you pluck a string, the app collects sound data for your chosen duration (1, 2, or 3 seconds) and gives you one of five clear judgments: “Tighten more,” “Tighten slightly,” “In tune,” “Loosen slightly,” or “Loosen more.”
  • Continuous listening between tuning adjustments — Once you’ve adjusted the tuning peg, just pluck again without tapping any buttons. The app re-measures instantly and automatically advances to the next string when it detects you’re in tune.
  • Headstock guide for string identification — A visual diagram at the top shows which string you’re tuning and what note it should be. No need to remember string numbers or note names; color coding (green for tuned, red for not yet tuned) keeps you on track.
  • Pitch graph and deviation metrics — A real-time graph shows the pitch throughout measurement, with a calculated average line and target line displayed afterward. Cent-based deviation bars let you see exactly how far off you are.
  • Tuning history and progress tracking — After you tune all six strings, the app records the session with date, per-string error margins, total time, and a weekly summary. You can actually see your tuning habits improve over time.
  • Customizable settings — Choose your measurement duration, enable dark mode, and switch between Korean and English.

Who This Is For

If you’re picking up acoustic or electric guitar for the first time, you know tuning is often the first hurdle. This app is built for that moment—when you have no idea if you’re tuning correctly, when you don’t yet know which string is which, and when you need something that won’t confuse you further. It’s equally useful for self-taught players, high school band members learning to tune independently, or anyone who’s struggled with traditional tuner apps. The app works entirely on-device with no account required, and your tuning records are stored only on your phone.

Try it on the App Store today. Pluck, adjust, pluck again—the app handles the rest.
